Marilyn Starks

Marilyn Starks, a dedicated community servant and professional, hails from Opelousas, Louisiana and is a graduate of ULL (formerly USL) with a degree in Accounting. She and her family moved to Baton Rouge in 1999, where she has since made her home. Marilyn has been happily married to Perry Starks for 37 years and is the proud mother of three independent, successful children; Ross, Austin, and Marissa.

Marilyn served for 17 years as the Office Administrator for Preis Gordon APLC in Baton Rouge. Demonstrating her exceptional skills and versatility, she wore multiple hats and excelled in various roles. While her professional accomplishments are notable, Marilyn's commitment to service and community involvement is truly remarkable. She has been an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church since 1999, serving in numerous ministries, including the Finance Council. Her dedication to Catholic education is evident through her involvement with St. Thomas More Catholic School, where she actively participated in the Home & School Association for 11 years. Marilyn also extended her support to Catholic High School through the Mothers Club for 7 year sand Band Parents for 5 years. Additionally, she contributed to St. Joseph's Academy as a member of the Mothers Club for 4 years.

Marilyn's passion for philanthropy extends beyond her church and educational affiliations. She firmly believes that to make a meaningful impact, one must actively engage and collaborate with others. This philosophy guided her involvement in the National Charity League, River Roads Chapter with her daughter Marissa for 6 years, and Karnival Krewe de Louisiane as a Board of Director for 8 years, including 2 years as President. Marilyn's commitment to hands-on involvement and building strong connections has been a hallmark of her service. Through her dedicated efforts, she has forged lasting friendships while making significant contributions to her community.
